Three of a Kind

Baby number three is on his/her way in a few weeks. As I was trying to come up with something to give the mother at her baby shower I had a few ideas... but not knowing the gender makes it a little hard. Then I came up with this idea, and knew it would be perfect. Her first two kids are, can we say, ADORABLE, and I wanted to include them in the gift receiving fun. Now that the shower is over, I can finally post pictures without ruining the surprise. Her first is a little girl, her second is the cutest little guy, and number three is, well, we don't know (thus the gender neutral green!)

We are all so excited to find out if baby number three will be a rough and tumble little tyke, or a sweet and dolled up princess. Only a few more weeks!

Tablecloth turned Cinco de Mayo

Once upon a time (last summer) I bought a red flowered tablecloth meant to use for the fabric. It sat and sat, alone and unused in my fabric stash. That was until I decided to try out a pattern I had brewing in my head. I sketched it out to make be sure of what it would look like. Then I cut out the body pieces. I had to make a muslin trial sleeve to make sure it would work, and it did, so I cut it out of the real fabric. I few rows of elastic smocking later and we have this shirt.
(doesn't it look a lot like the sketch above)
I decided to call it my Cinco de Mayo shirt, because to me it looks a little festive! K was asleep when I made it, but luckily when she tried it on it fit perfect!
